Summary: Just a Sark filler ficlet for "Nemesis."
Two years trapped behind glass like some museum display afforded him
considerable time to dream of her. To remember what her body felt like under his hands... to re-learn, memorize, the new shape of that other woman's face in the hopes that he saw it again some day... but he still thought she was dead.
He's an appallingly practical man sometimes. Grieve, compartmentalize, keep her in his sleep, but not in his waking.
All of that practicality shattered when he stepped out of the van and saw her. His partner. The other woman's face and a third person's eyes. His
heart leapt into his throat and he wanted to run to her, to sweep her up in his arms as if they were reunited lovers in an epic romance...
Of course, he didn't. He restrained himself. Dropped the glass and trapped himself once more.
Her lips are harder. The network of faded white scars on her skin are a
map to nowhere. She concedes to his touch and composes coded e-mails to the Covenant in her head while she comes.
He curves against her back in the darkness... and grieves, compartmentalizes...keeps her in his sleep...in his heart...
But never in his waking.
Allison is still dead.
Bristow is going to pay for killing her.
Naturally, not as much as he'll pay for loving her...
